Sleep Empowerment

Helping friends help each other sleep since 2014

What is a Sleep Empowerment workshop?

Sleep Empowerment workshops are groups of friends who come together to help each other improve their sleep and the sleep of their families through reflecting on their own experience, studying fundamentals of sleep, and supporting each other over time as they apply what they learn in their homes.

Groups can be made up of old or new friends, coworkers, neighbors, or acquaintances.  Facilitators primarily pay attention to creating an environment of collaboration and encouragement, where every voice is valued and every question considered.  While the study of these materials is usually completed in just a few sessions, groups are encouraged to continue to meet to revisit ideas, reflect with each other about their progress, and to support each other as new challenges arise.

Sleep empowerment workshops explore:

CULTURE

  • How do societal expectations effect our sleep?

  • What are the cultural attitudes that make it so difficult for us to identify and address barriers to sleep?

Information

  • What are the forces that govern sleep?

  • What interferes with healthy sleep?

  • What are signs of a sleep disorder that requires medical attention?

Tools

  • What tools can we use to establish healthy sleep patterns?

  • How can we understand and use ideas from "self help" sleep books effectively?
